It is heartening that Matt Corbett from Clunes has no problem with the mega-development proposed for Bangalow, after all most industrial traffic will go East through our town and he will not be bothered.
Also Colin Clarke of Ocean Shores will be likewise untroubled by this factory as he seems to adhere to the last council doctrine that ownership of land confers the right to build anything on it, (nuclear waste dump anyone?).
Interestingly no one has mentioned sewerage, the Bangalow plant will not be able to handle the volume so a private STP will be required. Considering the problems of the council plants and the mess that was Sunnybrand, this one will almost certainly become a major environmental problem in our small, high catchment.
With few exceptions it has been made clear that the locals are not prepared to see their town severely impacted by this factory/abattoir – but let them eat muesli!
The record of the JRPP (state-appointed mates) who will make the planning decision does not engender a lot of confidence that politics and influence will be entirely absent.
