A cycleway expert will be sought by Byron Shire Council to review the current design for on- road cycleways around Byron Bay after councillors voted in favour at Thursday’s meeting.
Costings and a funding source will be identified for the length of Bangalow Road, from Clifford Street, Suffolk Park, to Browning Street.
Mayor Simon Richardson’s motion aims to create a ‘continuous single on-road cycleway on both sides of the road, a continuous dual lane on the eastern side of the road or a continuous dual lane on the western side of the road.’
A $292,600 budget has been proposed in the capital works program for 2017/18.
