It is refreshing to see that over 50 per cent of Tweed Shire Councillors including staff now remain seated during the ritual of praying to a god at Council meetings. It was reported by a Councillor that even Troy Green, our Council GM remained seated as an obvious statement toward the inevitable removal of the divisive prayer. A large majority of Councils throughout Australia have removed the superstitious ritual of praying to gods prior to their meetings, not only in-line with our Constitutional right to separate church and state, also to remain inclusive. This can only be recognized as a positive move toward the ability to think freely without the restrictions of religious dogma and the denial of evidence based science.
