Having recently returned with a gold medal from the inaugural International Maccabi Culinary Games, local celebrated chefs, Ronit from Open Table Catering and Zohar from Luscious Foods, will be recreating their winning feast on 28 October for all to experience.
The Maha Feast will be a five-course meal showcasing the produce of the Middle East combined with our region’s native ingredients, and will be held in the lush tropical setting of Lagoon Pavilion. The menu includes mouth-watering dishes such as Besan pancake with roasted, smoked cauliflower and coconut chutney, and sumac and za’atar encrusted snapper served with roasted pepper salsa, beetroot salsa and preserved lemon mayo.
‘We had so much local interest in the dishes. It’s very exciting to be able to host this unique event here in Byron Bay so that everyone can enjoy the dishes we cooked to win the international competition. It will be a fantastic night celebrating the diversity of our cultures, food and flavours,’ said Ronit.
The Maccabi Culinary Competition is an international event that attracts the best of the Jewish community around the world to Israel to compete. Ronit from Open Table Byron Bay and Zohar from Luscious Foods represented Australia in the recent games in July 2017, and took home the prize as the overall winners, a stunning victory!
