Police are still hoping someone may have information about missing yachtsman Keith Jones.

The  search for missing man, Keith Jones, whose yacht was discovered near Yamba earlier this week has been suspended.

The yacht was found adrift near the river mouth at Iluka, 70km north-east of Grafton, shortly before 3pm  on Tuesday.

Police from Marine Area Command identified the yacht as the “Wayfarer”, which is believed to have left Hervey Bay in Queensland on Wednesday, 14 February 2018, with the 65-year-old owner on board.

The man was reported missing to Queensland Police on Monday, 19 February 2018, and an extensive search has since been conducted of seas off both states involving helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft and, locally, Marine Rescue; however, there has been no sign of the missing yachtsman.

A decision to suspend the search was made yesterday afternoon.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Marine Area Command or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
