The 11th annual Arakwal NAIDOC Week 2018 film night on July 10 is dedicated to showcasing the lives and impact of Aboriginal women.
With the theme ‘Because Of Her, We Can’, this year’s program will take you on a special journey with some incredibly funny, powerful and strong Aboriginal women whose uplifting stories will inspire and delight.
The filmmakers have become some of the leading lights in indigenous filmmaking, blazing brightly on Australian screens and stage.
Curated from Flickerfest favourites, the program includes: Warwick Thornton’s multi award winning comedy short film Nana; She Say and Aunty Maggie and the Womba Wakgun by amazing writer/director and actress Leah Purcell; plus Nan and a Whole Lot Trouble and Hush, two delightful comedies by the very talented writer/director Dena Curtis.
The event is fundraiser for the Arakwal Corporation and is supported by the Indigenous Coordination Centre.
