Jenny Meinel and Jenny Lofts delivered a great comeback game to win the Brunswick Heads Women’s Open Pairs Championships last Tuesday.
Under near-perfect bowling conditions in front of an anticipative crowd, including club stalwart of 55 years Sheila Riley, the final game matched up to what had come before it in a terrific series.
The early-morning slower green obviously favoured the team of Jenny Andrew and Sherril Pearce who earned an 11–5 to lead by mid-morning.
Combined with a quicker green more suited to their game and some excellent weighted shots, Meinel and Lofts took up the gauntlet to steadily fight back and emerge with a well-deserved 18–14 win.
This is the first time Meinel and Lofts have won the Open Pairs.
