Candidate integrity

I write in reference to ‘Letters’ about Ballina candidates in last week’s Echo and would offer the following in...

Brookies bring out pre-mixed Negroni

The Negroni is my favourite cocktail. It’s quick and simple to make yourself, if you have all the ingredients (equal quantities of gin, Campari and vermouth plus ice and a slice of orange).

Keith Duncan, Pimlico

Well stone the bloody crows, Kevin Hogan has said something! The photogenic image we constantly see in our local newspapers has developed a voice, and to cap it all off, Kevin has suddenly become an expert on health, by advising the Queensland premier on how to handle the COVID-19 pandemic!

Yes, it is an inconvenience to have to go through border control procedures to visit Gold Coast hospitals for specialists’ appointments and medical procedures, however, it is also an inconvenience to spend two to three weeks in hospital on a ventilator after being infected with COVID-19. Maybe if health facilities were better in Northern NSW, people wouldn’t have to travel to Queensland.

Kevin is quick to jump on the political bandwagon and badmouth Annastacia Palaszczuk for doing her best to keep COVID-19 under control. The same Kevin that supports a government that has presided over the complete failure within the aged care industry, by being totally unprepared to deal with the pandemic.

Ever since the Howard government started down the road to privatisation, the aged care sector has suffered chronic understaffing. Shocking revelations emerged from the recent Royal Commission of people with ants crawling in open sores being left unattended; residents left hungry, alone in their rooms; our most vulnerable Australians dying without their families by their sides. Anything to say about that Kevin?

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. As previously stated… the Qld Premier will be first
To go … followed By Andrews …
If the NSW premier was i charge of these
Draconian. Totalitarian states such as Qld and Victoria… people like you keith and the Left
Would be going into Meltdown.. as would the ABC
Who have been hijacked from top to bottom
By the left … incidentally where are the greens ,
The human rights advocates , civil libertarians ?
Well silent of course .. !! Expect anything different NO… hypocrites..

  2. Keith, I understand the shock. My reaction? I went blank.
Then I realized that our Kevin’s lock-jaw was due to
    federal stealth – no kidding!

  3. So…… we are going into meltdown… I like ice-cream! And the
only draconian meltdown’s coming from those so posed in
their ‘the world is flat’ syndrome. How strange it is that the
foot-in-mouth ones are [if they’ll admit it] afraid of the ABC
because of what’s exposed as incompetence. Last I heard
of the greens you’ll just have to wait & see. Viva La Difference.
