Mullumbimby railway station burns down

At around midnight last night, a fire started which engulfed the old Mullumbimby railway station. It's been twenty years since the last train came through, but the building has been an important community hub, providing office space for a number of organisations, including COREM, Mullum Music Festival and Social Futures.

Tweed Council wants your ideas on future sports facilities

Tweed Council is looking for feedback from residents about future plans for sport and recreation in the area.

The push back against government coercion, tyranny, mandatory vaccination, vaccine passports, border closures, medical apartheid and stripping away our basic human rights has gone to the next level in Melbourne and around Australia. Since when has it been illegal to walk down the street and protest tyranny? Unless tyranny really exists. Our constitution allows protests.

People have had enough of the coercion and the lockdowns that kill more than COVID-19. The government has lost control of the situation, having to use police bullying and brutality to back up their own lies and deceit so it can implement its draconian measures to take away our freedoms and livelihoods.

While many people in the Shire are wanting more opening, MP Justine Elliot wants to capitalise on the fear to promote her re-election. She wants to put a ring of steel around the Northern Rivers and bring in the army to enforce it. We should be treating COVID as a strong flu and treat the symptoms with approved and effective medication like many countries are now successfully doing and lifting all restrictions.

People who were illegally arrested or fined for expressing their concerns should be encouraged to not pay any fine and to fight for their innocence in court. What an absolute waste of police and government resources to keep fighting COVID and the people. All this for a virus that has a 99.8 per cent survival rate for most people and to encourage an experimental vax that has the potential to be more dangerous than the virus itself! And if the vaccine is supposed to work, why would anyone be worried anyway?

we live in 2021, not 1919…

  2. Well dean what a lot of waffle over nothing. You do realise that the virus exists and Justin Elliott is calling for the army- really – to do what- round up all the anti vaxxers. Did you read your letter- a conspiracy theory gladfest. The small percentage of people protesting should not be seen as fighting for the freedom to infect and be infected but as selfish people listening to the rabid comments of sky/ Fox News along with palmer/ Kelly misinformation. The real freedom fighters are those who have got vaccinated and have got off their arse to do something, not putting their head in the sand and saying it’s a flu. Stop bludging on the vaccinated and go help yourself.

  3. Dishonest antivaxers like Dean Jefferys frequently claim that the lock downs are killing more people than the virus but they never quote the numbers. In fact the suicide rate in Australia during 2020 was considerably lower than in 2019 when there was no Covid. Of course they also pretend that all suicide is due to Covid restrictions.

About 1,100 Australians have died of Covid. If we had the same per capita death rate as places like Texas where the people refused to have health orders, we would have lost more than 50,000 people to the disease.

  4. While Dean seemingly never tires of writing the same stuff, giving us the benefits of his greater insights into Covid19 and the best treatments for it, I’m sure many readers, me included, are tired of writing stuff in reply.

The push back you speak of in Victoria rather fizzled out after the day their infection rate jumped by more than 50%. Sometimes people can be shamed into better sense. But I rather like the way John Setka put it in this report from The Age/SMH:

“Dozens of people have caught COVID-19 from the CFMEU Victorian office cluster, triggering an angry response from the union’s state secretary John Setka.

“Seven people who work at the office, which was targeted by a mix of protesters angry with vaccine mandates and lockdowns last month, have now tested positive for the coronavirus along with dozens of their family members.

“The number of COVID-19 cases connected to the Melbourne CFMEU headquarters, which were exposed to the virus during the construction protests last month, has risen to seven.

“Mr Setka laid the blame at the feet of the protesters. ‘These protesters are just selfish idiots with absolutely no care for anyone other than themselves,’ Mr Setka said in a statement.

“ ‘They have caused enormous stress and heartache for members families’ who were just doing their job on the day of the protest.

“‘While we welcome construction opening back up to 25 per cent today, these members won’t be going back to work and along with their families will be in quarantine for two weeks with the added stress of so many family members being very sick and some hospitalised.’”

  5. Hey Dean,
You’re exactly right. Or should that be Right? Anyway, no worries, I agree – don’t fight covid, you specifically that is. So next week when NSW opens up you’ll be free to holiday in Western or South-Western Sydney where the highest new daily case rates are. Go on, prove them all wrong. But make sure you stay for a few weeks and visit all the listed exposure sites. For good measure pop into a few hospitals & visit ICU to cheer them up a bit, but do tell them they’re all a bunch of whingers and liars. But don’t you dare wear a face mask or sanitise your hands because who needs them, right?
When you return, let’s hold a massive house party for all your anti-vax disciples. I’ll provide heaps of vitamin C and even throw in some invermectin and snake oil.

  6. I do recall hearing you on ABC Radio last year . Your predictions then did not quite play out …from memory you said COVID did not exist. I guess we will find out over the summer more . Sometimes , and this seems to be one of those times,we have to defer the argument for a year . Let’s revisit this in a year ,

  7. All these doctors, nurses, microbiologists, immunologists, epidemiologists, and other researchers keep saying COVID-19 is dangerous, but all these people who barely passed science in high school keep saying it’s not. It’s so hard to know whom to believe any more.

If you choose to follow Dean down his rabbit-hole it’s unreasonable to expect others to rescue you when COVID hits your fan.

  8. Hi Gordon,
Hundreds of thousand of doctors, nurses, microbiologists, immunologists, epidemiologists, virologists, Nobel prize winners and geo-polical researchers keep saying COVID-19 is not as dangerous as it made out to be and that the vaccine is killing and maiming people in droves, but they are silenced and censored in the mainstream media and by Big Tech on the internet both of which has been spouting covid fear porn 24/7 non-stop for 20 months to further the Great Reset agenda of the global elite. Conspiracies are for those not in know and who are hypnotised and walking around with their heads down wearing obedience signaling useless muzzles, like the Walking Dead in certain movies which I don’t watch but am aware of their existence. Be free to hold onto your current erroneous beliefs until such time Love and Truth will be revealed to you.

    • Blah blah blah. No evidence for any of your claims. Oh it’s all suppressed? You know better because you got it from secret underground websites. And you expect to be taken seriously while you insult our intelligence with your pathetic diatribe.

    • But Theo who will reveal this grand “Love and Truth”? And how?
Will it be health professionals and experts in the mainstream media and public health information services, or quietly buried in some obscure corner of the interweb only for the knowing few to be found and shared only by their equally all-knowing disciples? But thank you anyway for opening my eyes to the problem. I clearly see now that everyone has lied to me my whole life, Black is white and up is down.

  9. Dean,
Having read your wafflefest above, all I can say is compared to when I met you in the 90’s via the Rainforest Information Centre and now, the only link to now that I can see is your ego. Get off the soapbox mate, and adjust your metaphorical imperial clothing (or the lack thereof). You’re an embarrassment to your peers, and you sure ain’t doing Gaia’s work anymore.

    Underwhelmedly yours,

    Luke “the Cook”Bennett.
