There are 21 COVID-19 positive patients in hospital in Northern NSW, with one of these in ICU.
Sadly, today Northern NSW is reporting the death of one person aged in their 30s from the Tweed area.
The health service expressed its sincere condolences to their loved ones.
The health services also urged locals to take simple precautions to protect each other, such as:
- use a mask in indoor settings where you cannot maintain a safe physical distance from others, and
- get your booster vaccine
- get a test and isolate immediately if you have any COVID symptoms,
- clean your hands regularly.
Authorities also ask that people who have even mild symptoms or have had known contact with a COVID-19 case, get tested as soon as they can.
COVID-19 testing clinics are open seven days a week at Lismore Base Hospital, Byron Central Hospital, North Street Grafton and The Tweed Hospital.
People who are unable to attend a testing clinic are asked to take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and isolate while awaiting the result.
People who test positive using an RAT are asked to register the result with Service NSW.
COVID-19 boosters are available at vaccination clinics throughout the region. Those who are eligible for a booster are asked to book without delay through the COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder.
NSW Health vaccination clinics are now administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to children aged five to 11 years old. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to make a booking for vaccination at any NSW Health vaccination clinic, at a general practitioner, or a community pharmacy.
Case data and other COVID-19 information is available on the NSW Government website.
