Still the man of Eve Jeffery’s dreams, Jackson Browne was umami for the ears on the Mojo stage on day three of Bluesfest. Photo Tree Faerie.

Day one and two of Bluesfest had the legendary Steve Earle and day three delivered Buddy Guy and Jackson Browne.

Buddy Guy was in full swing at his last Bluesfest performance ever! Photo Tree Faerie

Buddy Guy was just brilliant – at 86 he still has everything he needs at his finger tips – still shredding, still an envious vocal range and still as cheeky as sin. This show was dripping with bitterness and sweetness as he bade farewell to his Bluesfest audience – WE LOVE YOU BUDDY!

Jackson Browne held every single punter in the palm of his hand as he rang true song after song. Inside the tent, outside the tent, side stage, back stage, out-the-back back stage – every inch of the place hung on his every word and note and his voice was as true as his word.

Sublime!

Allison Russell began her set with the wind and brought her redemptive musical saga to Bluesfest with a powerhouse all-female band. Her clarinet, banjo and voice left few in the room unmoved and Nikki Hill, well, what can you say about Nikki? Nikki Hill is probably one of the best performers you will see at Bluesfest – she’s all class. Class, Class, CLASS!

Hussy Hicks played the Buskers Stage celebrating their musical performance roots as winners of the 2010 comp. Photo Tree Faerie.

There were tonnes of great acts all through the day including Loose Content, Clarence Bekker, Hussy Hicks, who rocked two stages including the Buskers Stage where they performed in 2010 and won the event, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram, Daniel Champagne, Marcus King, Eric Gales, who almost blew the roof off the Crossroads tent and Jason Isbell and just so many more.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
