The only way forward is going backwards. That’s how I explain the current situation of Byron Shire Council. The ongoing neglect of our major infrastructure projects – huge concerns for the community. How has our elected body been able to ignore the failures of upgrading and maintaining sewage and stormwater systems to such a detrimental impact on our community? Why are they not accountable for continuing to pass massive development projects when the fit for purpose just isn’t there and the possibility of billions of dollars needed. How can state and federal government help? We are in the midst of more man-made disasters. Community rates are rising because of neglect and the ongoing decades of neglect. Do we trust the same captains of our sinking ship?
