Justine Elliot calls the Greens liars three times in last week’s Echo article on social housing, and further warns on the opposite one-page ad that she authorised, that the Greens ‘put people’s lives at risk.’

Poor Justine. Here’s Labor who didn’t blow the whistle on Robodebt, who sent all those unfortunates to Manus Island and Nauru at unbelievable risk and expense, who is expanding arguably the most climate-wrecking fossil fuel industry of any country. Where is their heart when they reneged on cancelling the cashless welfare card (Smart Card)?

The Greens, who care about the stressed-out renters, are putting lives at risk! Let’s not have the longest campaign ever to the federal elections an ongoing slanging match. Justine, it’s not a good look.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. There is no better friend of the Fossil Fuel Industry than the Justine and her reckless and dangerous ALP mob.
Where is the Justine / ALP with fixing the Flood Victims? That’s right, M I A.
But hey, look over there at…The Greens , again. Lol.

  2. No it’s not a good look Sandra, especially since all the things the Greens are claiming about the $10 billion HAFF, and the housing affordability measured are absolutely on the level – the whole truth etc! As is the story that the whole housing crisis can be solved by simply freezing rents and interest rates. Albo should ignore the constitution and just make it happen! I think there should be caps on house prices too!! Let’s not have half measures.

And Labor did stay absolutely silent on Robodebt. All that stuff about Bill Shorten’s tireless efforts both in and out of parliament – including assisting a class action that finally brought a halt to – it was made far too much of. Calling a Royal Commission was just to create a smoke screen for their ineptness in not stopping the scheme from opposition.

The fact that the world has just recorded its hottest July ever is truly horrific (though quite anticipated) news. Labor, though investing heavily in renewable energy, is clearly not doing enough and taking too long to manage the transition. Now some snide people might try to claim that Australia would be much further down the track without ten years of the likes of Abbott and Morrison but the Greens were quite right to block Rudd’s CPRS – if you can’t get exactly what you want, don’t settle for anything less.

Some might even claim that a three year head start would have been good but who would want to deprive a group of inner city, middle class purists the smug histrionics of marching to Queensland to tell the locals how misguided they were.

But the Greens have pronounced themselves the renters’ party? And more lately the home buyers’ party. Good on them – they should be congratulated on the wisdom of targeting the fastest growing demographic in the country. Those suggesting that it’s with policies that are “pixie dust” are just too prone to letting reality curb their imagination. And the Greens are truly the only ones who care – in fact the Greens invented the word “care” 😇

    • Sandra I don’t like this reply, it doesn’t work well as sarcasm and comes across as sneering. But you see my first, more direct response, was considered unacceptable. It seems you can make whatever interpretation of history you like but I’m not allowed to present another.

  3. Had anyone ever witnessed a green that doesn’t lie, disrupt, cancel, steal oxygen?, I am quite sure there are one or two of them out there that don’t come under that description, I just haven’t met one yet. I am and never will be a labor supporter, however I would sever my own right arm before ever voting green.

  4. Greens care, what a crock of crap. The only thing greens care about is wrecking our economy and the only viable exports that enable our very existence (Oil & Gas). They live in a little fuzzy feeling utopian world where they are the saviours, they and only them know what is best for everyone. They will lie, cancel, re-write history to try to achieve this. Caps and freezing prices on anything will and has never worked, however in the green world it’s simple, easily done until their mismanagement catches up with them. I suggest they should spend their time doing something they excel at like protesting and disrupting normal peoples lives instead of trying to pretend they are fiscally and morally competent.
