If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Albo will and can not answer your question as he is hiding his real agenda. Voice, Treaty, Truth. Treaty and Truth is not discussed as the Aussie population will be paying dearly for it, It will change Australia as we know it today for the worst. A divided nation.

      • The newspaper of the Soviet Union was named ‘Pravda’, the Russian word for ‘Truth’. It reported such things as Chernobyl as being fake news conspiracy theories. Due to the amount of pravda in the daycare and schools, we home school our child.

        • I thought you generally thought, you think Putin and the Russians are the truth tellers and unfairly receiving bad press!

We can all have our own versions of the truth but, no matter how you varnish it, there’s some pretty unpalatable stuff about white Australia’s dark history.

          • Yuck – can’t leave that one as is: –
“My impression was that you generally view Putin and the Russians as the truth tellers …”

          • You think modern day Russia is the Soviet Union? You think I care about Russia?
There are unpalatable things in this country’s history indeed. Transportation, Indentured Servitude, forced convict labour, settlers being massacred by savage natives. But that all happened to our ancestors, not us, and the future awaits.

          • I don’t really care what you care about Russia, Christian but Russia, USSR or Putin’s vision to make them one and the same again seem to be your truth tellers in our current conflict.

I note in your little summary there’s no specific mention of the “unpalatable” as to how the indigenous population were treated – and arguably continue to be treated. Though perhaps this is included in “indentured servitude” – there was plenty of that went on.

I hope you sweat up a bit before you start Australian History lessons.

          • I don’t listen to what any of the government say, I look at what is actually happening, and what was happening before. Russia is not saying what the conflict is really about. I have been.

My daughter will be well versed on all the pre-Australian historical events. Rum rebellion, Vinegar Hill, Eureka Stockade, founding of the ANA, the Barton administration. A lot more than school kids are ever taught.

  2. David I think you are asking the wrong person. You see it’s not Albo’s idea. As a result of a process that was kicked off in 2015, the Uluṟu statement asks for the Voice and for it to be enshrined in the constitution – a mechanism to be listened to. The response they got was “Sorry not listening!”

After nearly 8 years, all that is happening is that a new government is saying is OK, if you want it put to the Australian people let’s do it! The Government policy is a “yes” but basically that stems from the Uluṟu Council (a widely representative body) saying THEY think it will make a difference. Are we going to continue to say sorry we know better?

Making it about having a shot at Albo is a nice little trick the Opposition has conjured. Don’t be sucked in!

  3. Since the smashing the Liberals received at last Federal election, Dutton has not been able to land a blow on the Albanese Govt, everything that he has tried has blown up in his face, if he can’t manage to turn his fortunes around shortly, he will be in real danger of losing his job before the next election. He is shamelessly using this important referendum as a means of damaging Anthony Albanese, if he can manage to defeat the proposal. Typical right-wing opportunism, sadly nothing about improving Aboriginal lives. The referendum is a very simple proposition, there is no “hidden agenda”, it’s a real shame that the right-wing nutters seek to lie and divide this nation just because they can’t think of anything beyond their own “privileged” existence, it is so good that they are no longer in power.

  4. Simple proposition keith ? Yep that’s what Albo
Would have us believe…could not be further from the truth.. keith and if you believe that ..you certainly are not as educated as i thought you were..!

    • Hey Craig, to make it simple & understandable just for you, I’ll quote quote Annabel Crabb:

“At issue is the inclusion in the constitution of 102 new words, which would recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians as the first peoples of this nation, and install a new advisory body called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.

You can vote Yes, or you can vote No.”

Seems like a simple proposition. What part can’t you understand?

    • A simple proposition Mr Barrow, you do seem a little on the slow side, NEWSFLASH!!, it’s not what Albo is saying, do you actually understand consecutive polling, when a series of polling numbers all say virtually the same thing?, and I couldn’t care less about what you think about my education.

  5. Wow here a thought Albo was applying the kiss principal to this referendum so people could understand it but no, all the conspiracy whackos come out of the closet because it’s too hard to comprehend the word advise.

    • “Wow here a thought Albo was applying the kiss principal to this referendum ..”, yes Albo applying a different kiss, ‘The Kiss of Death’.

      • Joachim old son, the Greens would know exactly about the “kiss of death”, they readily apply it whenever they manage to con their way into an actual position of responsibility in the Senate and shamelessly vote against important Govt legislation for little more than political grandstanding.

  6. A newsflash to labor supporters. Labor won the last election, yet many months on you still rattle on about the coalition. I suggest this is a tactic to cover up the hopeless Albo and ministers. You regurgitate dirt on the coalition as you have nothing to claim as a win for this government. You can’t talk about the pre election lies, the energy price crisis, cost of living crisis, falling voice numbers, ministers caught lieing yet let off, bullying by fellow ministers, failing renewable energy projects, destruction of thousands of acres of land for solar farms and windmills without question, the Qantas debacle, the unauthorised use of airforce jets to name a few failings. Can someone please tell us something commendable this rabble has achieved and why parrot head blackout Bowen survives.

    • A newsflash to whining righty’s, most of the difficulty’s currently being experienced in the Australian economy did not materialize in the last 12 months, only an idiot would believe that, they are a direct result of a decade of Coalition missmanagement, and oh dear Greg, from that typically repugnant spray, We get the feeling that you would not be a happy chappy with any Govt that wasn’t led by a “Donald Trump”, how do you sleep at night having all of those negative nightmares?

      • Keith, newsflasher, for you old son.
ALP’s train wreck Yes Voice, is on the ALP.
ALP’s crash landing with Joyce / Qantas, is on the ALP.
ALP’s Rent Crisis Fail, is on the ALP.
ALP’s Emissions FAIL, is on the ALP.
ALP’s Air Force Flyboy Marles, is on the ALP.
ALP’s Kathryn Campbell Affair, is on the ALP.
ALP’s Skaty Flaky Katy Gallagher Affair, is on the ALP.

        Keith, the polling ‘Numbers” –
Albo’s personal approval rating is in the negative…tanking fast!
ALP primary vote… behind Coalition primary vote.
Keith ‘Number’s’ earlier this year – ALP’s humiliation at the Fadden QLD by electioin and the Rockingham WA by-election.
PM Albo is on track to be a “oncer”.

          • Lizardbreath, incorrect.
There isn’t just this make believe binary choice of either Lab or LibNat.
We go the better way to get this country back on track, we go The G R E E N S Way!!!!!

  7. The current government well and truly own the mess they find themselves in. It wasn’t the coalition that promised the world before the last election. Albo promised anything that would get them into government regardless of the truth and consequences, blind freddy could see that except for the blinded by BC loyal supporters.

    • Ha,ha, nice try Greg, but it was the Coalition that promised the world to stay in power, but didn’t fund it, now Labor is trying to fix the mess, blind freddy can see that.

  8. Since when has a new government had to uphold the pre election promises of the last government?. Clutching at straws now. Next the expletives will start to appear as the disappointment and frustration caused by this rabble continue to eat at every rusted on supporter. I am still waiting for someone to compile a list of all the great achievements Albo and Co. have bestowed upon us. I suggest a one liner could cover it. How embarrassed you poor labor voters must be, I really do feel for you. Yes I feel so happy Albo has run out of points and running on empty, empty promises, empty credibility, empty head.

  9. You seem to have got yourself worked up into quite a state there Greg, we can see your suffering, you need to try and calm yourself down, I have told you in the past that if you confused righty’s can’t see what is currently being achieved by the Labor Govt, I am certainly not going to help.

  10. You have totally lost any touch with reality old sport. Keep up your arrogant Albo like demeanour which enhances the bright sides chances of taking over from a failed one termer that got caught up in his own foolish rhetoric and has lost touch with reality. Go your hardest, the more you try to justify this train wreck the sillier you look. I am in no way suffering, I can see a clear light ahead in this lefty tunnel and feel quite relaxed and confident this self induced pain ensures this rabble is doomed to failure. How sweet it is.

  11. I sleep very well at night thank you very much. Watching the greatest prime minister ever imploding under the heavy weight of his failing ministers, his unworkable energy farce, his blinkers on stance on the voice to mention just a few embarrassment’s gives me great hope and satisfaction. You find it hard to spruik the governments fine achievements as they are far and few between, Too Bad, So Sad.
