The Living Lab is to host a free house raising workshop in Ballina early Wednesday evening.
Award-winning Byron founder of Mullum Cares and the Library of Stuff Sascha Mainsbridge is to facilitate the session, aimed at helping anyone considering raising their home to protect themselves from future floods.
Information from the Living Lab says the community group’s goal is to help people think through critical issues in order to make their house raising projects truly successful, regardless of whether or not government assistance is a factor.
Aside from her focus on community and environmental sustainability, Ms Mainsbridge is said to have worked extensively in corporate insurance, conservation and land management.
She experienced her home flooding in last year’s Northern Rivers disasters, prompting her to make home climate change mitigation an urgent priority.
This evening’s workshop is to start from 5.30pm in the wheelchair accessible venue of Richmond Room at 5 Regatta Ave, Ballina, and finish at 7pm.
