Council provides so much more than just roads, rates and rubbish! Find out more about our 50+ services and join in activities as part of Local Government Week 2024.

Local Government Week is designed to showcase the work councils do in their communities, including the wide variety of services they provide. Local Government Week in 2024 will run from next Monday, July 29, to Sunday August 4.

Tweed Shire Council says the week will be packed with exciting and informative tours and activities, offering a closer look at some of the 50+ services Council offers the Tweed community.

Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry said Local Government Week provided an opportunity to open the doors and show the breadth of services Council delivers every day. ‘Local Government Week celebrates the range and diversity of services Council delivers for the Tweed.’

Local Government Week starts next Monday.

Beyond just roads, rates and rubbish

‘This goes beyond just roads, rates and rubbish – Council delivers services ranging from community events, libraries, sports fields, parks, cemeteries, adapting to climate change, water supply, building checks, pet registrations and more.

‘As the level of government closest to the community, Council is best placed to activate healthy local economies and thriving neighbourhoods. We’re in the best position to protect where we live and make the Tweed better tomorrow than it is today.

‘We’d love to see you at one of the tours of our Council facilities next week or the many other Local Government Week activities we have planned.’
