Work is to start on the removal of North Lismore’s Terania Street rail bridge next week.
Labor Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin says workers are to be on site from Monday 26 August in preparation for demolition in mid-September.
The bridge is to be cut and dismantled, a media release from Ms Saffin read on Monday.
Local residents could expect information from Transport for NSW tomorrow (Tuesday 20 August) in their letterboxes, Ms Saffin said.
Terania Street is to closed to all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists for around four weeks once demolition starts next month, weather permitting.
‘I understand the impact these works will have, but this is the final hurdle to be cleared before we can get Terania Street opening without disruption once and for all,’ Ms Saffin said.
‘I’m glad my advocacy efforts have finally paid off and the community is getting the outcome it wants, needs and deserves.’
