
Severe weather yesterday saw rain, hail and falling trees across the region.

While Mullumbimby saw large hailstones batter the town with at least one skylight smashed, other areas experienced heavy rain and winds.
At Upper Main Arm Public School a large, old fig tree split in the grounds with children who were about to sit down nearby to eat their lunch had to run to dodge falling branches and sticks according to the the Main Arm Voice Facebook post.
‘The roof of the covered walkway was damaged. Emergency services were called and reports say some children sustained injuries and were taken by ambulance to hospital.’

School principal Virginia Pavlovich said, ‘All students impacted when the branch fell were checked by paramedics with seven students taken to hospital for further assessment. Counselling has been offered to all students including those who witnessed the incident but were not physically affected,’ according to the Main Arm Valley Facebook post.
There was also a tree down at Federal.
Ballina Shire
Three roads, Ross Lane at Deadmans Creek, Friday Hut Road at Kirklands Crossing, and Pearces Creek Hall Road at Pearces Creek, were closed in Ballina Shire due to water over roads. Cautions were in place for the Coast Road (between Boulders Beach/Skennars Head Road roundabout and Pat Morton Lookout); Houghlahans Creek Road, South and North; and Watsons Lane at Emigrant Creek.
