Danny Wakil wrote in last week’s Echo, ‘World peace starts in your own homes and community. Is your home a house of peace and understanding or a house of war?’ I could say the same about my newspaper, The Echo. Is it a place of peace or a house of war?
Considering we have had ongoing word battles between Danny and Gareth for over a year, [Ed note: over ten years] words of conflict about Palestine, Gaza, and Israel, and other writers severely criticising other writers, often their letters contain ugliness and pain.
Can we have some peace in our newspaper? How about once a month, publish these conflicting letters? The fact that at least two major wars are still raging hopelessly just shows the hopelessness of humanity.
And, Happy New Year to all!

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
