Motorists travelling west from the coast today are being warned that a fuel tanker roll-over at Applethorpe, approximately 5k north of Stanthorpe, has the New England Highway blocked.
Queensland Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) following the crash early this morning.
Police say that at around 3.40 am, police and emergency services were called to New England Highway following reports of a fuel tanker roll-over.
The PSPA was declared at 6.50 am with the exclusion zone boundaries encompassing New England Highway from Aerodrome Road to High Street, including Mayfair Lane and Melaleuca Crescent.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and drive with care.
