The Woodburn event team say they are thrilled to announce the return of the much-anticipated annual Riverside Festival on September 27.
Co organiser, Melanie Jane Connell, says, ‘This year’s event promises a full day of free, family-friendly activities, with a special focus on raising awareness for river health’.
‘The festival will transform the heart of Woodburn, with a road closure to accommodate a wide range of attractions.
‘A highlight will be the River Health marquee, featuring local organisations like Oz-Fish, Richmond Riverkeeper, and Landcare. They will provide valuable information about the current state of our waterways and how the community can help protect them.
‘Attendees can expect a day packed with entertainment and unique competitions. The festival will feature a “show and shine” for vehicle enthusiasts, a land-based boat race with cash prizes, and a variety of quirky competitions like “fling a flip flop” and “pool noodle pony races.”
‘The classic tug of war will also return, offering more chances to win.
‘Families will find plenty to do, including a children’s activities marquee with face painting spinning tops, and crafts.
‘The local Memorial Hall will host a special exhibition of artwork from the local school’s art competition. A bustling market, live music, and a delicious BBQ run by the Pony Club will also be on-site, along with fine food stalls.
‘The SES and RFS will be present, giving the community a chance to show their appreciation for their essential work.
‘Live music will be a key part of the day, starting with a performance by the K12 school band, followed by the main stage act, Sabotage Live. The event will conclude at 7 PM with an unforgettable Laser Light Show over the river.
‘The Woodburn event team extends its gratitude to East Coast Traffic Control for their sponsorship, which helps make this community celebration possible’, Ms Connell adds.
