Friday night, 28 November, in the backroom of the Mullumbimby Ex-services Club, decorated by the consummate stylist Mandy Peters,  Zee Gachette brought the legendary Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland project to life in an electrifying fashion.

In the first set she was accompanied by that firecracker drummer, Beck Flatt, with Jake Savona on keys, Geoff Wright Lead Guitar and Tim Longworth on bass. Zee’s experience playing and touring extensively in Europe with the internationally acclaimed violinist Nigel Kennedy on his Jimi Hendrix Project, lent an extra dimension in bringing forth her capacity to conduct and bring out the best in the musicians on stage, reminiscent of the late and great Frank Zappa.

The second set was ushered in with Purple Haze featuring the smokin’ lead gjuitar of Jode Skennar and Owen Cassidy on Bass. All Along the Watchtower, Voodoo Child, Foxy Lady and Hey Joe were among the favourites in the second set to get the crowd of friends and fans on their feet right to the back of the room.

It’s amazing that this talented performer who’s done several tours with Nigel Kennedy and played at the Princes Cancer Trust at the Albert Hall, London, with Eric Clapton and at Ronnie Scott’s 50th Anniversary with Jeff Beck and at the Berlin Philharmonic Classical venue, lives and loves here. She contributes generously to the community mentoring 12-25year olds by doing several workshops (eectronics, production, vocals and performance) at the YAC (Youth Activities Centre) in Byron Bay. Recently Zee participated on a Bay FM panel and chose the winner of the songwriting competition. She also mentored the young duo Wild Rocket who went on to win the Battle of the Bands in Sydney.

Watch out for her two appearances at the 2026 Blues Fest and whatever comes in between. Zee Gachette is the star in ZStar Trinity.
