Richmond Police say nearly two thirds of all offences recorded in the district last week were related to domestic violence.
Officers said on Friday they’d charged 45 people in the days between 8 and 14 January, representing 91combined offences, with more than 62 per cent of charges, or 56 offences, related to domestic violence.
Contravening a prohibition and / or restriction in an apprehended domestic violence order accounted for a dozen charges, making it the number one top offence recorded throughout the week.
Domestic violence assault occasioning actual bodily harm accounted for eight charges, while stalking and or intimidation accounted for seven.
The next most common offence recorded was for possession of a prohibited drug, accounting for five charges.
There were four charges laid for being armed with an intent to commit an indictable offence.
The Richmond police district includes Lismore, Ballina, Nimbin and Alstonville.
The Tweed Byron Police District has not released a weekly offence statistics report since 2025.
