Private certifiers will now be employed by the public for development certifications at Lismore City Council, after staff say they recently undertook a comprehensive review of Building Certification Services, ‘and determined that development certification can be effectively provided by private certifiers’.
They say, ‘This change aligns with industry practices and ensures that resources are focused on core responsibilities while enabling applicants to access certification through accredited private providers’.
‘As a result, Council will no longer offer the following development certification services:
- Complying Development Certificates
- Construction Certificates
- Occupation Certificates
- Critical Stage Inspections
- Swimming Pool Compliance Certificates
‘For your building certification needs, people will now need to engage a qualified private certifier and/or an accredited E1 Pool Certifier.
Transitional arrangements
‘If you currently have a construction certificate and/or an occupation certificate application with Council, Council will contact you as soon as possible to advise of the next steps.
Please note Council will continue to assess Building Information Certificate applications and Council will continue to undertake external plumbing inspections for developments’, they say.
