Prima Facie

With just four weeks until opening night, NORPA (Northern Rivers Performing Arts) say they are preparing to welcome audiences to its highly anticipated production of Suzie Miller’s internationally acclaimed play, Prima Facie.

In a media release, NORPA says, ‘Performed by renowned actorMatilda Ridgway and directed byHeather Fairbairn, whose work is gaining national and international recognition, Prima Facie tells the story of a brilliant defence lawyer forced to confront the justice system she once championed’.

‘The powerful one-woman work will tour across the Northern Rivers, toByron Bay, Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah, Kyogle, Grafton and Lismore, this February as part of NORPA’s newVillage Circuit. While Prima Facie has captivated audiences from Sydney to the West End and Broadway, becoming a global phenomenon and earning Olivier and Tony Awards, NORPA’s production is set to spotlight local and Australian based creatives.

‘The team is led by Northern Rivers–based Director Heather Fairbairn with Sound Designer Julian Starr, Costume Designer Ella Lincoln, alongside Sydney Lighting and Set Designer, Véronique Benett.

‘Byron-based Heather Fairbairn is an opera and theatre director whose work has been presented by prestigious companies worldwide, including the Royal Opera House, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Opera Australia, and BellShakespeare. Her recent 5-star production of Victorian Opera’s Katya Kabanova received widespread acclaim’.
