Development company CADRE has been recognised on the global stage, with its Ballina residential project, Solhaven, being awarded silver at the World Design Awards 2026.

CADRE are behind the Station Street development in Bangalow and are proposing a large Mullumbimby bedsit complex.

In a media release, they say, ‘The World Design Awards form part of the global ‘Better Future Awards’ program and celebrate excellence across architecture, design and the built environment. Judged by an international panel of architects, designers and industry leaders, the awards recognise projects that demonstrate innovation, sustainability and design integrity across a highly competitive international field’.

‘Penned by award-winning studio Cera Stribley, Solhaven was recognised for its considered approach to sustainable, design-led living, setting a new benchmark for residential development in regional Australia. The award reflects CADRE’s ongoing commitment to integrating architecture, environmental performance and community outcomes in every project’.

Christopher Tyas, Founder and Director of CADRE, said the recognition reinforces the importance of delivering design-led outcomes that make sustainability both aspirational and achievable.

‘The World Design Awards sit among the most respected global design accolades. To be recognised alongside international projects advancing next-generation sustainability through design-led outcomes is both humbling and a proud moment for the entire CADRE team.’

‘Solhaven is a boutique residential community located just 20 minutes from Byron and is designed as a new model for sustainable coastal living in the Northern Rivers. The project brings together considered architecture, biophilic principles and passive design to create homes that respond to both climate and lifestyle.

‘Designed to work with the local landscape, Solhaven prioritises natural light, ventilation and a strong connection to outdoor spaces, while integrating sustainability measures that reduce long-term operational impact. The result is a residential offering that feels grounded, contemporary and intrinsically connected to Place.

‘For CADRE, Solhaven represents a continued commitment to raising the standard of regional development – delivering homes that balance design integrity, sustainability and everyday liveability, while contributing positively to the communities they sit within’.
