A man has died in hospital after being pulled from the surf at Ballina Friday morning, police said on Monday.
Emergency services were reportedly called to Lighthouse Beach at East Ballina about 10.20am Friday 6 March.
Responding officers from the Richmond Police District heard members of the public had pulled a swimmer from the water but the 76-year-old man was unresponsive.
Police and paramedics started CPR before taking him to Lismore Base Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers on Monday said the man died in hospital Sunday night.
