Coorabell art show inspired by natural world

'Elemental: Conversations with Nature' is the title of a forthcoming exhibition featuring eight established and midcareer artists working across painting, drawing, weaving, ceramics, and textiles.  Inspired by the natural world, each artist explores the forms, patterns, materials, and forces found in nature.

The annual Old and Gold Festival is on again in Brunswick Heads on 6 June. The all town garage sale gives everyone the chance to rummage, discover, and enjoy hunting for their most treasured gift, or delight in their most exotic find.

‘Old and Gold has been running for 22 years and was originally started as a stimulus package for the residents and businesses during the quiet winter period. It now seems that due to the economic climate and the installation of parking meters affecting our local businesses that a stimulus is once again very important for Bruns,’ said organisers.

‘With a lot of local festivals falling by the wayside like the Blues Fest, Falls Fest, and Streets Alive event in Brunswick Heads, and no government support, it falls on our local businesses and the community to support the event and keep it going.

‘A huge thank you to our principal sponsors, Hotel Brunswick, The Echo, Old Maids and Stone & Wood, with their cash support and donated prizes for our raffle and lucky penny including two tickets to see Pete Murray on June 6, a free Stone and Wood Beer for stall holders, accommodation vouchers at Mona Apartments, the Sails Motel, Reflections Holiday Parks and many donated vouchers from our local businesses making a fun opportunity for everyone!

‘Every year our Gold Sponsors support the event with cash and prizes including North Coast Lifestyle Properties, Byron Shire Real Estate, IGA Brunswick Heads, Meadows Medical Clinic, The Chalet Motel, Bruns Bakery, Bruns Pharmacy, B3 Social Remedy, Crystal Castle and more.

‘This year there’s also an opportunity for the community to donate to the running of the festival, pay your garage sale fee or purchase a raffle ticket through the Tippy Tip app set by Bruns local Gabrielle Gleason (or pop in to the Visitor Centre).

‘Even a gold coin donation helps!’ See www.brunswickheads.org.au under the festival and events tab.

Community groups also benefit on the big day, with Treasure Trove at the public school, a Rotary BBQ, and the CWA Devonshire Tea and market.

Don’t miss out on the fun!

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.

If you are a local business owner help us and in turn we help you. All The Echo asks for is advertising, not a free ride. It is every advert in The Echo and on www.echo.net.au, which creates the space for all the stories and coverage of community events, happenings and concerns.

If you are a reader you can become a sponsor of The Echo. Your support keeps the us independent.

Even a small one-off or regular donation from you will help keep the echo’s independent voice alive and strong.
