Congratulations to Winter Whales, Byron Surf Club, volunteers, water safety, and all the sponsors for pulling off yet another incredible Big Swim.
I was frothing to see the ocean of community, locals and visitors coming together to commune with nature, swim and pod together in a vibrant spectrum of green, yellow pink and yellow caps! There were rainbows at times!
There was no trace left, leg bands were recycled and buoys retrieved. There were smiles and adrenaline, as people of all ages swam together. It was truly regenerative! While a shortened course owing to swell, it was as just as exhilarating.
It was so well organised with kayakers, swimmers and boats on the ground and in the sea. I was so proud of our those in our community that take volunteering so seriously yet with such joy and ease. I loved hearing swimmers from all around the compass fall in love or reclaim their love for our beach, notice the birds in the dunes or see past local acquaintances.
Well done and hope to see more swims! I absolutely loved it and the joy of all those around me.
