Thank you to The Echo team for providing a free and informative local newspaper.
As I’m taking the time to read the last edition, I am feeling quite angry at the article about the constant fight local communities have to put up with developers.
I am a former Byron resident, who had to move to another town, like many others, when the prices of rentals and properties have gone up artificially and beyond any reason.
Still, I care about our small beach towns.
I feel very sad to hear about this titanic project at the corner of Jonson Street.
Why not remove the public swimming pool to build another giant building as well? Where do we stop?
If there has been a nine-metre height limit since the 1980s, how can a higher building be built? I just don’t understand how it works.
We already had a similar case of height-limit exceedance happening last year.
My disappointment came to a peak when I read the last sentence of the article – ‘Submissions on the DA close on April 29’.
Wait a minute, did I miss the article last week? What’s the issue’s date? 29 April!
I just hope late submissions are accepted indeed.
I wish I had the info before, how did I not see or hear of it before? I must have missed the info in another issue right? It would be such a high-impact project on the town. I can’t imagine what it’s like for people who don’t read local news.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
