Local author Tristan Bancks launched his new book for readers 10+, Raised By Wolves, at Byron Book Room last night (Thursday 4 June).
It’s a sequel to the bestselling Two Wolves book, which is about two kids on the run with their parents who have committed a crime.
Bancks said the book was inspired by readers’ questions about what happens next. ‘I would visit schools,’ says Bancks, ‘and kids would ask whether Ben becomes a cop, what happens to his little sister Olive and whether Dad ever gets justice for his crime. So, I thought I’d write a book to find out.’
Two Wolves has been staged as a play at Byron Theatre by Bang! and is Bancks’s biggest book to date, selling over 140,000 copies in Australia. The Byron launch caps the end of a five-state tour for the book in schools, bookshops and festivals.
At the launch, Bancks took the audience behind-the-scenes on the journey from Two Wolves to Raised By Wolves, sharing the book soundtrack, vision board, book trailer and doing a giveaway. He told The Echo, ‘The launch was a treat last night. Lots of great friends, family, teachers, librarians, young readers and curious bookshop patrons’.
