On Sunday, 24 May one of the Northern River’s most beloved and legendary figures Rainbow Guy, aka Guy Feldmann, was involved in a car accident on Tandy’s Lane by Uncle Tom’s.
‘He has multiple compound fractures to both legs and pelvis, broken ribs, and broken vertebrae in his back, and serious lacerations to both of his arms and a punctured lung,’ his son Ishiyah told The Echo.
‘Due to the extreme skill, patience and care of all of the emergency personnel and hospital staff, he is still, well, alive and well.
‘You’d be forgiven for thinking alive and well was a stretch. Yet for those of us who know this man. Who know the conviction, the life, the sheer indomitable spirit that he possesses, alive and well is almost an understatement.
‘He was barely 30 minutes awake from a four-day induced coma, in which time he underwent nearly 20 hours of intensive surgery for his injuries, and his first words were “blessed” and “meant to be somehow”.
‘For those of us fortunate enough to have experienced the Rainbow Temple, and had the pleasure of meeting Guy, his ordeal has been a reminder to keep gratitude as a core value in which we live our lives. The fragility of life is what makes the love of our families and community such a wondrous gift to be cherished.’
Guy is wanting to rally volunteers to tackle the growing Devils Fig problem in Rosebank when he is out of hospital.

For four decades The Echo has printed the stories some people loved, some people hated, and some pretended not to read. If you want us to keep telling the truth, the real truth, not the sugar-coated version. We’ll need your support to keep the presses rolling.
