The Pocket Road will be closed for several months from 28 September to repair a culvert originally built in 1960.
Properties west of 879 The Pocket Road (just prior to the very windy section that leads up the hill to Main Arm Road coming from Billinudgel) will need to detour via Main Arm Road. However, pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained throughout the works.
Byron Shire Council (BSC)says the culvert is in poor condition, and concerns about its structural integrity have led to multiple road closures this year during heavy rainfall events.
‘Work hours will be 7am to 5pm. The road will remain closed outside of work hours,’ said a BSC spokesperson.
