Coolamon Drive culvert repair. BSC

Byron Shire Council says repairs to the damaged culvert on Coolamon Scenic Drive, between Dudgeons Road and Synotts Lane, will commence tomorrow (20 October 2026). The remediation works will address damage that has restricted traffic to one lane through the affected section.

As an interim safety measure, temporary traffic signals have been installed to manage vehicle movements through the site. Traffic management will remain in place while repairs are completed.

‘The culvert headwalls have become detached, posing a safety risk to road users. A contractor has been engaged to undertake the necessary remedial works to restore safe access for motorists,’ Phillip Holloway, Director of Infrastructure Services said.

‘We thank the community for its patience while these repairs are completed. Restoring the structural integrity of the culvert will enable the removal of temporary traffic signals and return the road to normal operating conditions,’ Mr Holloway said.

The anticipated completion date is 3 November 2026 (weather permitting).
