NSW Police confirmed today (Friday, November 6) that the woman died on Thursday night. She was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash on Broken Head Road on Saturday, October 31.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene before she was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Emergency services were called to the crash about 10.30am. Officers from Tweed/Byron Police District found that two drivers, a 59-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man, had died at the scene. The 70-year-old woman was travelling in the vehicle driven by the man.

The occupants of the third vehicle were not injured.

Broken Head Road was closed between Beech Drive and Broken Head Reserve Road after the crash, with diversions in place while emergency services responded.

Police established a crime scene and began investigating the circumstances of the collision.

Police previously appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash, had information about it or had relevant dashcam footage to contact Tweed/Byron Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can be provided confidentially.
