Last week’s Echonetdadly featured federal Labor MP Justine Elliot answering some questions about the latest legislation passed in Parliament.
It was disappointing that Justine did not discuss the Renewable Energy Target which was slashed when Labor voted with the coalition.
Sadly donations from the fossil fuel industry to both major parties continue to dictate Australia’s future.
Along with the 20 per cent cut to the RET, Labor joined the government’s call to burn native forest waste and call it renewable energy. What a disaster and what arrogant disdain for the environment.
The knock on effect of dismantling the RET will be continuing uncertainty for renewable energy investment.
Where is the media frenzy when it’s really needed to berate the government and opposition about the thousands of job losses and billions in investment opportunities on hold?
Do we have to wait until the rest of the world drags us kicking and screaming into the reality of climate change. What climate change?
We have the technology, creativity and resources to reduce pollution and sail towards a clean, sustainable future. Who doesn’t want that?
