The New South Wales Rural Fire Service are currently attending properties on Kyogle Raod near Terragon.
RFS staff and volunteers are responding to reports of a large column of smoke 6km south-west of Uki.
Aircraft have been sent to assist with firefighting operations and a large air tanker has dropped a load on the area which RFS spokesperson James Morris says has slowed the spread of the blaze.
‘Firefighters are working with a number of properties in the area,’ says Mr Morris. ‘We are expecting the wind so we are taking precautions there.’
The fire is burning in an easterly direction and is currently out of control.
Firefighters are providing property protection where required at a number of rural homes. Residents should enact their bush fire survival plan and know what to do if a fire threatens.
