A 45-year-old man has received bail after police accused him of setting fire to the Pottsville rental property he was living in.
Officers said they arrested and charged the alleged offender on 27 April, when they found him hiding in a nearby yard after allegedly carrying out arson.
The fire is said to have caused major damage to the dwelling, rendering it uninhabitable.
Police also charged the man with two offences of stalking and/or intimidation.
Officers initially denied him bail refused but the then received conditional bail in the Parramatta Bail court.
Conditions include reporting daily to police.
He is due to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on 18 May.
