The Iron Gates appeal has raised questions around the future cost burden that will be place on Richmond Valley Council ratepayers for if the development goes ahead.

The Iron Gates site at Evans Head is once again back in the Land and Environment Court following the rejection of a DA by the Northern Regional Planning Panel on 7 September, 2022.

Goldcoral Pty Ltd the most recent development company behind the controversial Iron Gates development at Evans Head went into administration last week and has now changed law firms representing them.

The Iron Gates development, that is on flood- and fire-prone land near Evans Head, has been fought by the community for over 30 years. The current company that owns the site, Goldcoral Pty Ltd whose director is Graeme Ingles, has now been placed into administration.

The developer of the Iron Gates DA at Evans Head is waiting for a site visit by the Land and Environment Court in March 2023 following the launch of an appeal after their DA was refused by the NRPP in August this year.
