Murray Watt's lifeline to loggers won’t save native forests, says Bob Brown Foundation, as forest protests continue in Lutruwita/Tasmania.

Bob Brown Foundation has recorded critically endangered swift parrots across their Tasmanian breeding territory, in multiple forests on the logging schedule, including two nesting pairs of the critically endangered parrots in a forest behind Dover.

The morning after Western Australia legislated to ban logging, in Tasmania the logging of ancient forests was halted by another daily protest calling on political leaders to save this ancient forest and forests across the state from further destruction.

Bob Brown Foundation says Australia's worst native forest logging is currently underway in Tasmania's Central Highlands. The Foundation has recently carried out multiple forest protests in this area to highlight the critical need to end native forest logging. So far, four people have been arrested defending this forest.

The Bob Brown Foundation says that a federal Liberal government, if elected, would deliver more forest killing-fields, global heating and climate pollution.

With Tasmanians set to go to the polls on 23 March, the Bob Brown Foundation has called for the next Tasmanian government to take real climate action by protecting all native forests that are left standing and restoring degraded forests.

This morning in southern Tasmania, a protest is taking place in the forest habitat of critically endangered swift parrots, where logging has been happening recently.

Activists from The Bob Brown Foundation have today immobilised all logging machinery ripping into ancient native forests in the Wentworth Hills area of Tasmania’s Central Plateau. This protest follows on from a week of protests in the same forest last month, which saw four protesters arrested.
