Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a house in McLeans Ridges near Lismore on Wednesday night.
About 8.35pm, a man and woman were in the kitchen of their home on Camerons Road when the electricity went off.
When the pair went to investigate they discovered a mattress on fire in one of the bedrooms.
They dragged it outside and discovered a small fire had also been lit at the front of the house.
Both fires were subsequently extinguished and emergency services contacted. No one was injured during the fire.
Specialist forensic officers and Fire and Rescue NSW officers have since examined the house. Detectives from Lismore are conducting further investigations into both fires, which appear to have been deliberately lit.
They are now appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Camerons Road about 8.25pm last night to come forward.
Anyone with information about this incident should call Lismore Detectives via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
