Entertainment in the Byron Shire and Beyond

A huge amount of entertainment all crammed into one space.

There goes Matt Hartley again, with his thinly disguised Muslim bashing.

He told us in a previous letter that Islam preaches death to unbelievers but not surprisingly failed to mention that the bible (and torah) also does so no less than five times.

These religions also preach death to non-virgins on their wedding nights, rape, pillage and murder many times over.

Why is it that we only talk about what is wrong with others’ religions but not our own?

Where are your attacks on the child raping priests that get protection from the Vatican?

Matt then talks about Sharia as if it is coming to Australia – mate seriously, do you really think we are going to be interrogated by the Ayatollah of Byron Bay anytime soon?

Perhaps some people may accuse Hartley of islamophobia, but my understanding of a phobia is that it is something that people suffer from, as opposed to deliberately choosing to be a bigot and spreading intolerance and hatred.

Maybe you should take the log out of your own eyes and find ways of addressing the problems in our community, like corruption with regard to developers, the disgraceful and traitorous Cr Rose Wanchap, the betrayal and lies by the government with regard to CSG, Cr Sol Ibrahim planning to slash our environmental protections, and the new disastrous mega-development plans in Main Arm.

No Matt, instead of addressing any of these important issues facing us, you have chosen to continue with your Muslim bashing. Well done!

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. Matt, go move to Bankstown in Sydney, you’d love it. LOL.
