Sustainable power from carbon dioxide?

University of Queensland researchers have built an experimental generator which they claim absorbs carbon dioxide (CO2) to make electricity.

It proved to be a messy ending when a man was arrested after being chased by Ken, a police dog, in Goonellabah yesterday afternoon.

The 36-year-old Goonellabah man had an outstanding warrant and police allege he had been avoiding detection.

Police spotted the man at a residence on Dudley Street, Goonellabah around 1pm. He didn’t wait around and jumped the rear fence.

Police were prepared with the local dog handler in attendance.

An area was cordoned off and Ken tracked the man for 40 minutes.

As the man was seen running back towards his house, Ken was left off his lead.

A colourbond fence was scaled and Ken caught the man in a rear yard of an unsuspecting neighbour. The man thrashed around on the grass but was eventually handcuffed.

Once back at the police station he was treated by ambulance officers for a puncture wound to his bottom. He was also cleaned up as he was covered in dog poo (Ken wasn’t responsible).

The warrant was executed and two additional offences of Trespass and Hinder Police were added. He was refused bail to attend Lismore Local Court today.
