A small but dedicated group gathered in Mullumbimby on Saturday to commemorate Hiroshima Day and the tragedy that befell Japan – and the world – as the west turned to the atomic bomb to bring WW2 to an end.
Organiser Saya Minami said that while the size of the gathering was not as big as in previous years, it had a strong impact on those who attended, particularly the children.
‘We didn’t have many people but we had some local Mullum Japanese kids and mothers join the action. It was so great to see all the kids singing and dancing with the beautiful songs from Anna Parker and Andrew Mignot,’ Saya said.
‘I would like to keep sending the message to the world for “Nuclear Free Future” for children of the world and for their children,’ she added.
Saya added that she was extremely concerned about plans to turn an area of South Australia into a dump for high and intermediate level nuclear waste and has asked readers to watch a recently released video outlining the plan.
