A 49-year-old man will appear in Lismore Local Court today after being arrested on Friday after a vehicle stop led to $9,500 worth of stolen property.
Lismore detectives stopped a vehicle in Shephard Lane on Friday afternoon and the driver provided a positive drug test.
Police said as a result of that vehicle stop a search was made of two properties in Goonellabah and a ‘substantial quantity’ of property suspected of being stolen was discovered.
Further investigations linked the property to a break-in at Mullumbimby the previous night, and a break-in at a jewellery store in Grafton on 16 August.
The 49-year-old was arrested and taken to Lismore police station and charged with a range of offences relating to the break-ins.
Police said he might also be charged with driving under the influence of drugs pending an analysis.
He was refused bail to appear in court today.
