Schoolies is fast approaching. This year the Byron Schoolies Safety Response is once again recruiting volunteers in order to help make the young visitors welcome and ensure that they enjoy a safe celebration.
The HUB will be open 24/7 November 18 till December 5. Up to 50 of this year’s volunteers will have an opportunity to receive free certificate training in first aid.
HUB coordinator Nicqui Yazdi said, ‘We are looking for volunteers of all ages but would like to encourage more young people between 18 and 24 to join us this year; it is a wonderful way to gain volunteering experience.’
The HUB is a large marquee, set up in Beach Park, Byron Bay, for the duration of the school leavers’ celebrations.
Services provided include games and activities, evening entertainment, a minor first aid station, a hydration station with free water, free sunblock and condoms and visitor information about Byron Bay.
The Byron Schoolies Safety Response is also looking for experienced volunteer drivers to be a part of the shuttle mini-bus service they plan to run this year.
Businesses are also being encouraged to get behind the good work of the volunteers and donate funds towards the safety response.
Anyone wishing to sign up to volunteer, donate funds or just wanting to learn more can contact Nicqui Yazdi on 0402 013 177 or email [email protected].
