A free community Christmas Day luncheon will be held again at the Ballina Presbyterian Church Hall this year – and it’s open to anyone in the community to attend.
This will be the third year the lunch has been provided by the Ballina Presbyterian fellowship and the St Vincent de Paul Society.
Last year, despite the heavy rain, thunder and lightening over 150 community members gathered at the Presbyterian Church Hall to enjoy a two-course meal and entertainment on Christmas day.
The 2015 the event was supported by
local businesses and organisations who gave generously, not to mention more than 30 volunteers.
“In the months prior to Christmas local businesses and community members donated money, goods and on-site assistance which meant that the event flowed incredibly smoothly on the day” said Sam Booker, one of the organisers.
“Despite the torrential weather conditions the entire event was filled with enthusiasm, cheer and joy and the room was filled with much happiness and many smiling faces”, Ms Booker said. “It was also an excellent opportunity for community members to make new friends.”
The lunch will be held at the Presbyterian Church Hall, on the corner of Cherry and Crane streets, Ballina from 12noon – 2pm on Christmas Day.
