Joe Monks, The Gap.

I note that our government is unlikely to recover $2 billion paid to shonky education service providers. How many MRI machines would that money have paid for or free dental services for the needy?

This is another example of the insane pursuit of privatisation by politicians who do not have the interests of everyday Australians at heart. They represent a strata of society that sees itself as the ruling class and hugs all benefits to its own bosom.

Our wonderful TAFE system has been torn apart for the benefit of dishonest profit takers and our gaols being run from Europe or the USA. These are just two examples.

Increased foreign ownership of our agricultural land threatens manipulation of supply and our food prices by countries such as China who do not share our respect for human rights or life.

The current crop of politicians resemble the hens hybridised for egg laying. All the same colour. All lay an egg a day and retain very little natural traits. In fact they may all have the same mother! Shades of the movie Aliens.

Our Federal Treasurer is in the media today proud of the fact he is attacking the old and infirm!

The big question is. How do we stop it and how do we get rid of this vermin?

  1. Joe Monks. It certainly is high time the government dealt with e shonky education providers. We should not though forget that there are many legitimate providers delivering good training , and through that jobs, to people where the TAFE system has failed to do so ( not just because of lack of funding but also because of its inflexibility. In some places aged care providers badly need trained staff and the private providers give good opportunities for classroom and on-the-job training, that gets people trained and into jobs quickly. I am not a fan of privatization for the sake of it – but the addition of private providers can make for better overall delivery of services.

    • Petrus,

There is a reason public services were traditionally provided by our governments. The service provided was done so on the basis of care and goodwill. What we have now is service providers whose business plans lacks provision for a living wage for employees and very little left over after the shareholders and ceo’s take their share. The “client” ends up with service comparable with that in a banana republic. Snouts in the trough of public money.
