We philosopher kings of Creative Mullumbimby, although to be fair we are philosopher kings and queens, are committed to creating public art that tells local stories about people and place, that employs our many artists who are such an integral part of our community.
We do this by discussing our ideas widely (as the recent forum demonstrated) and in close collaboration and partnership with dubious pillars of the community such as Mullumbimby High School, Community College, the Brunswick Valley Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce and Council.
Criticism and innuendo are cheap, particularly when uninformed, why not enter the contest of ideas?
According to Plato, a Philosopher king is a ruler who possesses both a love of knowledge, as well as intelligence, reliability, and a willingness to live a simple life.
I wouldn’t say we want to rule anything but the rest we can live with. We thank all those who attended and engaged so thoroughly in our recent public art events.
We are excited about our Arts NSW funded two-year public art project, and we welcome input from all parts of the community.
