Israel’s assault on Global Sumud Flotilla – a first-hand account

It hit me like a lightning strike. It was the latex gloves that did it. Those pale blue five fingered clinical sheaths made me want to vomit. Last Tuesday, having just been repatriated from my time on the Global Sumud Flotilla, I was at Tweed Valley Hospital getting a forensic medical examination for my sexual assault at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces.

The Echo has way too much fun at 40th birthday bash

Without an inch or even a centimetre to spare, the Byron Bowling club was dressed up to the nines and packed with funsters on Saturday evening for The Echo's 40th Anniversary & Awards Celebration.

A 46-year-old Leeville man will appear in the Lismore Local Court today after police raided a property where they found heavy vehicles and cars stolen from Queensland, along with two shipping containers full of alleged stolen property worth more than $320,000.

The raid was the culmination of Strike Force Coquette, which began in January this year by the Richmond Local Area Command Target Action Group, supported by the State Crime Command.

Police allege the man was conducting an extensive business as an auto dismantler whereby in excess of 200 motor vehicles and other property was stored at that location. As a result of investigations certain items of property and heavy machinery stored there were identified as being stolen from Queensland.

Police executed search warrants yesterday at 8am at  Mongogarie Road Leeville and Clearfield road Clearfield. The 46 year old Leeville man was arrested and charged with the following:

* Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime

* Knowingly facilitate organised car rebirthing

* Three counts of Receive Property Stolen from Outside NSW

* Two counts of Stolen Goods In Custody

* Supply a Prohibited Drug – 1.84 kilos of cannabis

* Posses a Prohibited Drug

* Carry on business of an auto dismantler without a license – 2nd offence

Two shipping containers full of property suspected of being stolen were seized. The amount of property police allege to be stolen was over $320,000.00

He was bail refused to appear Lismore Local Court on 3rd March 2017.
